NSCA USA Sporting Clays Team Qualification Process

Selection to the NSCA USA Sporting Clays Team is the highest annual honor earned by NSCA members, allowing them to represent the association and the USA in international competition. USA Sporting Clays Team designation is determined by points earned in a series of selection shoots.

Five teams each are selected for Sporting Clays and FITASC: Senior, Lady, Junior, Veteran, and Super Veteran. For Sporting, five (5) members are selected to the Senior team and three (3) to concurrents. For FITASC, four (4) members are selected to the Senior team and three (3) to concurrents. One alternate is named for each team.

The 2019 NSCA USA Sporting Clays Team members are determined by the 2018 shooting season. Qualifying for a position on the USA Sporting Clays Team is based on points earned at a shooter’s top four USA Sporting Clays Team Selection shoots.

The points calculation for USA Sporting Clays Team is your score divided by the HOA within your concurrent category. For example, if you are in the Senior category and your score is 178 and the HOA score is 197, you would earn 0.90355 points. If you are in the Lady concurrent and your score is 160 and the HOA Ladies score is 170, you would earn 0.94117. You may compete in as many of the USA Sporting Clays Team Selection shoots as you wish, but only four scores as defined below will count toward placement on USA Sporting Clays Team.

Please read carefully, as there is a difference in the shoots required to qualify for the Sporting vs. FITASC team.

For questions or additional information regarding USA Sporting Clays Team, contact Brett Moyes, NSCA Director, at bmoyes@nssa-nsca.com or 210-688-3371.

NSCA USA Sporting Clays Team

Qualification: There is no maximum number of qualifier shoots a member must enter, but he/she MUST participate in the U.S. Open or National Sporting Clays Championship and use a score from one of these two events to qualify for USA Sporting Clays Team. Points are awarded only for Sporting Clays Main Event at designated USA Sporting Clays Team selection shoots.

NSCA USA FITASC Team

Qualification: There is no maximum number of qualifier shoots a member must enter, but he/she MUST participate in and use a score from at least one of the 200-bird FITASC team qualifier events to be eligible. Your second score MUST be from the U.S. Open or National Championship FITASC event.

Points are awarded only for FITASC Main Event at designated USA FITASC Team selection shoots. Points will not be awarded for the Regional shoot because they are awarded as the 200-bird FITASC team qualifier event.

For the 2018 shooting season, the 200-bird FITASC events are the North American FITASC Championship, U.S. Grand Prix, and the National FITASC Championship. All are noted below with an “*”.

FITASC Age Eligibility: FITASC International age rules apply at World Championship and World Cup events. See FITASC age categories.
