Although the USA Sporting Clays/FITASC Teams did not travel to international competition as a team this year, a contingent of American NSCA shooters traveled to Hungary for the World FITASC Championship last week and have returned home with several medals.
Joseph Fanizzi not only won the Junior Gold Medal as champion, but he won the Open runner-up Silver Medal, after tying France’s Gael Poinsot, Open Champion, in regulation competition. Other individual winners were Meagan Harrington, Ladies Gold; Paul Oppegard, Veteran Gold; John Hackethorn, Master Gold; and Todd Hitch, Junior Silver.
Four USA teams also medaled. The Open/Men’s team of Dominic Gross, Brad Kidd, Gebben Miles, and David Radulovich won Bronze. Karen Shedd, who would have been a Silver medalist in Ladies competition, instead helped Joseph Fanizzi and Todd Hitch win a Gold medal for the Junior team. The Senior team of Nadim Nasir, Tom Murphy, and Tim Miles took Silver, while the Veteran Bronze medal went to the team of Demi Howard, Sam Gallagher, and Paul Oppegard.
In Beretta World Cup competition, Open 1st place went to Gebben Miles; Junior 1st place and Open 3rd to Joseph Fanizzi; Senior 1st and Open 4th, Nadim Nasir; Veteran 1st, Nolan Williamson; Veteran 3rd, Sam Gallagher; and Master 1st, John Hackethorn.
Congratulations to all the American shooters who participated in the 2021 World FITASC competition and all those who medaled on behalf of the USA!
