McGuire Wins His Second 2016 Regional at Northeast
If there's a formula for winning an NSCA Regional Championship, Bill McGuire has figured it out. In last week's Northeast Regional Sporting Clays Championship at M&M Sporting Clays, McGuire won his second regional of the year and fifth in just two years, giving him an early edge at his third consecutive NSCA Championship Tour title. Coming in second at one target back was Mike Wilgus, breaking a tie with Zachary Kienbaum (M1) and Brock Allen (AA1) to earn the runner-up spot. NSCA Mourns Passing of Anne Cherry
The sporting clays community is grieving the loss of a familiar face at the country's most prominent events. Anne Cherry, wife of champion shooter Wendell Cherry, died of pancreatic and liver cancer on June 5. Anne regularly accompanied Wendell at sporting clays tournaments and was well-known among the shooters, their families, club personnel, and the sporting clays industry. Anne was in the hearts and minds of participants at the U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship, as the PSCA distributed red ribbons to everyone to wear in her honor. Caney Creek Shooting Sports will host the U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship this week and has presented a contingency plan for implementation in the event of inclement weather or other events that might interfere with normal scheduling.
