We are deeply saddened to report the passing of longtime member and NSCA Hall of Fame inductee Lonnie C. Mears Jr. of Grandview, Texas, last week. Lonnie was one of the earliest members of NSCA and has remained a supporter and active Master-class shooter. NSCA 2026 End-of-Year Review Criteria
The NSCA Executive Committee approved the 2026 End-of-Year Review Criteria on September 22, 2026. There were no changes from the criteria that were used for 2025. Below are the criteria that will be used for the review process, which will be taking place in mid-January, 2027: A member can opt-out of the end-of-year review by emailing kgracia@nssa-nsca.com by January 6, 2027. 12-Gauge Classification: ONLY shooters who started and ended the year in the same class and shot a minimum of 500 registered targets or more are eligible for end-of-year review. Shooting for Rewards Program Being Phased Out
The Shooting for Rewards program, which rewards members with points for shooting registered targets and offers a catalog of items the points can be spent on, is being phased out over the next two years. The program will end and the store will close on January 1, 2028. All unused points will expire on that date. In the meantime, points can be earned and spent until the program ends. Electronic Device Rule Updated, Clarified
The NSCA Executive Committee has approved an update and clarification to tournament rule VII-B-7 regarding the use of electronic and recording devices during competition. Updated Rule VII-B-7 now states: “During any registered event, while in the shooting stand shooters may not use any devices capable of recording, transmitting, or displaying live video [or] images, providing or allowing verbal feedback, or transmitting any other information. NSCA members and affiliated clubs are encouraged to be aware of a developing legislative issue that could have meaningful implications for hunting traditions, dog training, and certain club operations across the country. USASCT Launches 3-Gun Raffle to Support Team
The USA Sporting Clays Team is raising funds for its athletes through a new 3-Gun Raffle, offering participants a chance to win one of three firearms while supporting the team on the world stage. Glynne Moseley Retiring from Full-time Service to NSCA
A familiar and valued member of our staff will no longer be at NSCA headquarters or traveling the country meeting our members. Glynne Moseley, who has worked in almost every NSCA capacity over the past 28 years, is retiring from full-time duties at our national headquarters. Glynne's service to sporting clays actually predates her employment with NSCA. Registration for the 2026 World FITASC Championship in Portugal is now open on the FITASC website: https://www.fitasc.com/uk/competition/formalities/1288-compet. The event will be held July 16-19, 2026. The location is Clube de Tiro de Vale das Pedras, Casa dos Paços, 2580-251 Ota – Portugal.
