South Central Regional Rescheduled, Relocated to Greater Houston
The South Central Regional Sporting Clays Championship has been rescheduled and relocated due to the devastation by Hurricane Ida at Covey Rise Gun Club, which was originally planned to host the event. Following the news that the club would be forced to cancel, the NSCA Executive Council held a conference call to discuss the options. The National Shooting Complex has updated its ammunition policy for the upcoming National Sporting Clays Championship to address availability issues: We have been working diligently with all of our ammunition sponsors to secure as much ammunition as possible for the National Sporting Clays Championship. American Shooters Medal at World FITASC
Although the USA Sporting Clays/FITASC Teams did not travel to international competition as a team this year, a contingent of American NSCA shooters traveled to Hungary for the World FITASC Championship last week and have returned home with several medals. Joseph Fanizzi not only won the Junior Gold Medal as champion, but he won the Open runner-up Silver Medal, after tying France’s Gael Poinsot, Open Champion, in regulation competition. USA Teams to Forego World English, FITASC Events
After conversations with many of the USA Sporting Clays Team members, as well as discussions with the NSCA Executive Committee, the decision has been made not to send the USA teams to the 2021 World English Championship nor the 2021 World FITASC Championship this year. Their feedback regarding health, testing protocols, and quality of the experience led many team members to make the decision to forego the trips. The revised event schedule in 2020 meant that, for the first time, winners of the NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester, were not determined upon the finale of the National Sporting Clays Championship in October. On December 31, NSSA-NSCA completed the purchase of 23+ acres adjoining the National Shooting Complex that creates a buffer from development and helps protect the association’s investment in its San Antonio, Texas, property. New Sub-Gauge Classification Now in Effect
Effective January 1, 2021, all designated sub-gauge events have a separate classification system. This is one class for all the sub-gauges combined, not a separate one for each gauge. A sub-gauge event will be defined as any event, except 16-gauge, that is not 12-gauge and that is smaller in diameter than 12-gauge. For these purposes, “12-gauge event” means any event designated as 12-gauge or any general event that doesn't specify gauge. In case a 16-gauge event is held, it will classify as a 12-gauge event.
