World English Sporting Clays Returns to NSC in 2022
The World English Sporting Clays Championship returns to the USA in 2022 when the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas, hosts the event. The event is planned for April 20-24, 2022. The tournament will feature a 200-target main sporting clays event, along with 100-target old-style FITASC, Super Sporting, NSCA 5-Stand, and various other side events, including sub-gauge and sub-gauge FITASC. Kienbaum, Edmunds Win Nationals Titles
Everyone's favorite sporting clays couple, Zachary Kienbaum and Desirae Edmunds, pleased the crowd Sunday when they each won championships by blazing their way through the Orange course to win their titles outright. NYSCA Founding Father, Emil Misata, Passes
One of New York's first NSCA members, Emil F. Misata, 78, passed away on July 8, 2018, after a short illness. His member number indicates he was the 106th member of the entire association. "This is a sad loss for the New York State shooting community," says longtime member Louise Terry. "He was clearly a founding father of registered sporting clays in New York." Emil formed the New York Sporting Clays Association (NYSCA) in early 1993 along with Don Nickerson and Rhonda Driscoll. Legacy Left by Lynn Miller of Cajun Elite
Lynn Miller of Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on June 15, 2018. He was the owner and operator of Cajun Elite Shooting Club for 11 years, hosting numerous high-profile shoots including the 2008 U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship, the annual Browning/Briley Mardis Gras Open, Louisiana State Championship, Cajun Cup, and others. Fredia Steen Passes
Fredia Steen, a long-time NSCA member, passed away on June 12, 2018. She and her husband, Harold, enjoyed 18 years of participating in many sporting clays events. They enjoyed not only the scenic travel to events but the fellowship and friendship of the other sporting clays enthusiasts. NSCA End-of-Year Review Process
Each year in January, NSCA conducts a review of members' performance for the previous year to ensure that everyone will be competing in the most appropriate class in the coming year. When we run the end-of-year review, we look at your CCFR (Current Class Finish Ratio), which is how you finished in your end-of-year class, against all the other shooters in your end-of-year class at all the shoots you participated in during the year. New Gun, Low Scores I recently bought a sporting clays gun with 32-inch barrels, and now my scores have fallen sharply. I started out with 28-inch barrels, then moved up to 30-inch, and now with the longer barrels, I can’t seem to catch up to the target. My previous two guns were Beretta 682, and this one is a 692. I’m 6’5? and 250 pounds, so the gun does not seem too big to me. I was pretty happy with the shorter barrels but succumbed to advertising, I suppose.
