Lori Desatoff Fund Is Inaugural Founding Endowment

The recently created NSSA-NSCA Endowment Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of its first Founding Endowment, the Lori Desatoff Endowment. Named in honor of the late Lori Higgins Desatoff, one of the most accomplished and influential Lady skeet shooters in NSSA’s history, the endowment was established by Lori’s family as a permanently restricted fund, with spendable proceeds used to benefit youth shooting and recognition of women in the sport. Apply for $5,000 NSSA or NSCA Scholarship

Active NSSA and NSCA members who will graduate from high school this academic year are invited to apply for one of the eight $5,000 scholarships that will be awarded to deserving students this year. Four scholarships will be presented to NSSA members and four to NSCA members. The scholarship program is open not only to students pursuing a four-year degree but also to students attending two-year colleges and technical colleges. S. Hallock du Pont, Jr., of Vero Beach, Florida, and Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021, after a lengthy illness. "Hal," to all who knew him, lived life to its very fullest, passionate about each and every one of his endeavors. His contributions and service to NSSA-NSCA were pivotal and unparalleled in the organization's history. On December 31, NSSA-NSCA completed the purchase of 23+ acres adjoining the National Shooting Complex that creates a buffer from development and helps protect the association’s investment in its San Antonio, Texas, property. The land purchase is an important investment in the future of the National Shooting Complex, preventing any type of encroachments of residential or commercial development adjacent to our property boundary. NSSA-NSCA is currently undertaking a modernization of our IT and software infrastructure to improve communication, services, and data management of our 48,000 members and 600-plus clubs. The first phase, replacing our 20-year-old database system, started in 2018 and is due to complete in early 2021. The NSSA-NSCA is committed to continuing to provide timely, quality service to all of our members and member clubs through these challenging times. To that end, the NSSA-NSCA has applied for and received funding through the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide resources that will be used to maintain staffing so that we can do just that. Effective February 26, 2020, points earned in the Shooting for Rewards program for shooting registered targets won't expire for four years, doubling the time they can be redeemed. The Shooting for Rewards program allows NSSA-NSCA members to turn their registered targets into logo merchandise, shooting gear, and even shooting fees for events like the World Skeet Championships or National Sporting Clays Championship! NSSA-NSCA Scholarship Funds Doubled for 2020

NSSA and NSCA have doubled their commitment to their scholarship programs and will each award four $5000 college scholarships this year to deserving members who will graduate from high school and start a four-year college program in 2020. The scholarships will be awarded based on academics, citizenship, and participation in NSSA or NSCA. Applicants must submit an application, a short essay, a transcript, and a letter of recommendation. The scholarships are paid incrementally by semester, and students must maintain a B average.
