Final Shots: Robert T. “Bob” Lepor
It is with great sadness that we report that Bob Lepor, a great friend and leader of NSCA, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, after several years of illness. Members and staff of NSSA-NSCA knew Bob as a shooter, sportsman, and great competitor, but he was also a dedicated family man, fisherman, car-lover, hunter, and hard-working, successful businessman. Bob joined NSCA on March 14, 1994, shot 254,208 lifetime registered targets, and served in NSCA governance positions for many years. The NSCA elections for governing bodies to serve in 2023-2024 are now complete, with the selection of the Executive Council and Officers. NSCA End-of-Year Review Criteria
NSCA will conduct the annual end-of-year review during the week of January 16, 2023, to determine classification of members for 2023. The following criteria will be used for the review: 12 Gauge Classification: All shooters who started and ended the year in the same class and shot 500 registered targets or more are eligible for review. All shooters who shot 1,000 registered targets or more, in their ENDING class for the year, are eligible for review. K-80 Raffle Winner Announced
On Friday, October 28, during the Top Gun Shoot-Out at the National Sporting Clays Championship, a drawing was held for the winner of the Krieghoff K-80 raffle. Congratulations to Bill Wilford of Musella, Georgia, who was drawn as the winner of the gun, and he will have his choice of a K-80 Pro Sporter, Sporter, or Parcours model with gold standard engraving and color case-hardened finish. NSC to Use Score Chaser for 2023 National Championship, Texas State
The National Shooting Complex has added Score Chaser to the portfolio of registration/scoring platforms it will use in the future for NSCA events. In 2023, the NSC will use Score Chaser for two flagship events it will host – the National Sporting Clays Championship and the Texas State Sporting Clays Championship. Lori Desatoff Fund Is Inaugural Founding Endowment
The recently created NSSA-NSCA Endowment Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of its first Founding Endowment, the Lori Desatoff Endowment. Named in honor of the late Lori Higgins Desatoff, one of the most accomplished and influential Lady skeet shooters in NSSA’s history, the endowment was established by Lori’s family as a permanently restricted fund, with spendable proceeds used to benefit youth shooting and recognition of women in the sport. Updated Ammo Policy for National Championship
Our ammo policy has been updated for the upcoming National Sporting Clays Championship. The National Shooting Complex now has adequate ammunition supplies in all gauges, including sub-gauge, to accommodate all competitors, so it is not necessary for you to bring your ammo from home. Reloads will be allowed for 20-gauge, 28-gauge, and .410 sporting events; however, reloads may NOT be used for the FITASC events. NSCA Delegates Election Now Complete
The election of NSCA National Delegates for the 2023-2024 term is now complete and official results are determined. One state, Utah, required a run-off election for a position, and it has been completed as well. Because of the low number of candidates for many of the positions available, several write-in candidates have been elected. Some positions will remain unfilled because there were insufficient candidates, and write-in candidates did not receive enough votes to be elected. In observance of the recently passed California Assembly Bill #2571, NSSA-NSCA must cease all advertising and marketing activities directed at individuals 17 years and younger in California. This includes ceasing to distribute Clay Target Nation magazine, Target Talk/Target Talk Lessons newsletters, CTN Extra newsletter, event promotions, and other association communications to affected members.
