NSCA Renews License for American Field Sporting

The National Sporting Clays Association has renewed its license for American Field Sporting with the International Field Sporting Association, allowing clubs to continue featuring AFS as a registered event at competitions and giving members the opportunity to earn All-American points in 2022. “American Field Sporting had an enthusiastic response from our members across the country in 2021, and we want to see the game continue to grow,” said Michael Hampton, Jr., NSCA Executive Director. We have some important information for registered participants in the upcoming World English Sporting Clays Championship. Participants should watch their email for updates until the time of the event, April 19-24. Ammo Policy Update Factory ammunition must be used for all 12-gauge events. Reloads will be allowed for sub-gauge events only. If you must purchase ammunition at the event, please be aware that you will only be allowed to purchase enough to cover your competition events. Nominations are being accepted for 2022 inductions to the NSCA Hall of Fame. Any member in good standing may submit a candidate for consideration. The deadline for submission of nominations is February 28 for this year’s inductions. Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor any sporting clays shooter can receive from the association. 2022 NSCA State Shoot Assistance Grant

This year the NSCA is offering $2,000 grants to 12 clubs hosting State Shoots. These grants are to assist with shoot enhancements such as advertising the event, hospitality, a better awards package, etc.  The type of enhancements are open to be determined by the host club. The grant total is a one-time payment of $2,000 sent to the host club AFTER the conclusion of the event,  once all requirements have been met.  The host club will be required to provide, within 30 days of shoot completion: Expense receipts totaling at least $2,000 for goods or services that are evidence the funds … [Read more...]

World English Sporting Clays Returns to NSC in 2022

The World English Sporting Clays Championship returns to the USA in 2022 when the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas, hosts the event. The event is planned for April 20-24, 2022. The tournament will feature a 200-target main sporting clays event, along with 100-target old-style FITASC, Super Sporting, NSCA 5-Stand, and various other side events, including sub-gauge and sub-gauge FITASC. South Central Regional Rescheduled, Relocated to Greater Houston

The South Central Regional Sporting Clays Championship has been rescheduled and relocated due to the devastation by Hurricane Ida at Covey Rise Gun Club, which was originally planned to host the event. Following the news that the club would be forced to cancel, the NSCA Executive Council held a conference call to discuss the options. Greater Houston Sports Club generously offered to host the Regional, and the Executive Council unanimously approved combining the 2021 South Central Regional with the prestigious Diamond Classic at Greater Houston. American Shooters Medal at World FITASC

Although the USA Sporting Clays/FITASC Teams did not travel to international competition as a team this year, a contingent of American NSCA shooters traveled to Hungary for the World FITASC Championship last week and have returned home with several medals. Joseph Fanizzi not only won the Junior Gold Medal as champion, but he won the Open runner-up Silver Medal, after tying France’s Gael Poinsot, Open Champion, in regulation competition. After conversations with many of the USA Sporting Clays Team members, as well as discussions with the NSCA Executive Committee, the decision has been made not to send the USA teams to the 2021 World English Championship nor the 2021 World FITASC Championship this year. Their feedback regarding health, testing protocols, and quality of the experience led many team members to make the decision to forego the trips.
